Donor Advised Fund

Simplify Your Giving

You can streamline your charitable giving when you establish a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) with the Foundation for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington. DAF donors enjoy administrative convenience, cost savings and tax advantages.

Your gift is irrevocable and qualifies for a charitable deduction. You decide when to recommend grant distributions to other IRS-qualified public charities (which must adhere to Catholic teachings).

For more information on our how you can create a Donor Advised Fund with the Foundation for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, please contact John French at (703) 841-3896 or john.french@arlingtondiocese.org.

The Foundation for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington operates exclusively for charitable purposes. The Foundation invests all donated assets. It follows an investment policy consistent with the Catholic values and practices recommended by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). All invested assets are managed by professionals and monitored by the Foundation Board.

You can also create a lasting legacy by naming the Catholic Diocese of Arlington the beneficiary of the entire account or a percentage of the fund. With a percentage, you can create a family legacy of giving by naming your loved ones as your successor to continue recommending grants to charitable organizations. Contact your fund administrator for a beneficiary form.

An Example of How It Works

Happy couple calculating donations Joe and Laura want to give back to their hometown by putting their money where it will do the most good. They establish a $25,000 donor advised fund with the Foundation for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.

The couple receives a federal income tax charitable deduction for the amount of the gift. They also get the time they need to decide which charities to support.

After researching charitable needs with the Foundation staff, Joe and Laura recommend grants for their parish and the Bishop's Lenten Appeal. The Foundation presents these gifts with checks from the Patricia Fund, which Joe and Laura named in honor of Laura’s mother. They name the Catholic Diocese of Arlington as the beneficiary to receive the account balance after their lifetimes. Joe and Laura are delighted to start this personal legacy of giving.
